Sunshine Sharing - The Opioid Crisis

Opioids are a dangerously addictive form of pain-relievers. In 2018 alone about 47,000 people died from opioid overdose, with about one-third of these deaths coming from prescription drugs. Between 20-30% of people who are prescribed opioids for chronic pain misuse them and about 8-12% develop an opioid use disorder.

This issue of Sunshine Sharing covers the addictive history of opioids, the importance of pain-relievers and the safer alternatives to pain relief that are available. It covers the causes of pain and different strategies to solve the puzzle of pain including anti-inflammatories, CBD, omega-3s, increasing endorphins, topical analgesics, alkaline balance and electrical stimulation.
