Sunshine Sharing - Improving Dental Health

Problems with teeth and gums are commonplace in Western culture. The majority of people in our society get cavities regularly, get root canals, lose teeth, and require implants or dentures. Most young people also need to have their wisdom teeth extracted, and many require braces to correct crooked teeth. The common assumption is that most of these problems are due solely to the presence of bacteria in the mouth or are simply due to errors in nature (genetics).

This is simply not true. Dr. Weston A. Price, a prominent dentist in the early part of the previous century, proved that dental health problems were associated with systemic health issues. He showed that these problems were linked with poor nutrition and that poor dental health was also associated with poor physical health and even poor mental health. Modern research also shows that dental issues are not limited to the teeth and gums. For example, people with gum disease also have increased arterial inflammation and a higher risk of heart attack and stroke.

In this issue of Sunshine Sharing, we'll explore tips for solving dental problems with herbs, diet, and other natural remedies.
