The American Herbalists Guild (AHG) was founded in 1989 as a non-profit professional association to represent the goals and voices of herbalists specializing in the medicinal use of plants. Their primary goal is to promote a high level of professionalism and education in the study and practice of therapeutic herbalism. A Registered Herbalist with the AHG is one who has undergone an extensive peer review of their training, credentials and experience and has demonstrated a high level of competence in the practice of herbalism.
The AHG has developed a code of ethics, a continuing education program, and specific standards for professional members. The American Herbalists Guild's roster of professional members includes some of the most respected herbal authorities in the United States and abroad.
