Many common plants used in landscaping can be used for food and medicine. These are great plants to know if you live in a city or town. If you grow flowers or other ornamentals in your yard, they're also good choices as potential emergency food or medicine. These plants include daylilies, stonecrops, houseleeks, yarrow, prickly pear cactus, pleurisy root, barberry, and Oregon grape.

Many trees are also useful for food and/or medicine. We'll look at some of the trees you can use, too, including thuja, cedar, arborvitae, willow, poplar and birches. We'll talk about how to harvest and use these plants and trees in this session.
