Healing with Topical Applications

When most people decide to heal themselves with herbs, they typically think about taking them internally. However, if there’s a problem or pain in a particular part of the body, doesn’t it make sense to apply the remedy to the afflicted area?

In this Sunshine Sharing Hour, we’re going to tell you how to speed healing for a variety of problems using topical applications of herbs and essential oils. We’ll be covering four topics.

First, we’ll talk about the various ways to use herbs and oils topically. These include salves, ointments, lotions, massage oils, poultices, compresses, fomentations, and oaks.

Next, we’ll talk about using topical remedies to heal injuries and skin problems. We’ll talk about using herbs to stop bleeding, neutralize venom in bites and stings, and speed the healing of burns and injuries. We’ll also talk about remedies for skin irritation, itching, and infections.

Third, topical applications don’t just affect the skin. They can help to heal problems under the skin. For example, they can reduce inflammation, ease respiratory and lymphatic congestion, help the body fight infections and parasites, and help to heal deeper injuries like sprains, tears, and even broken bones.

 Finally, herbs can also be applied topically to remove things from the body. They can pull slivers and pus from wounds. Some herbs can even be used as escharotics to remove warts, moles, and even skin cancers.
